Kansas City Artist Mike Heule

A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mike has a rich artistic lineage that deeply influences his work today. Growing up in a household where his father was a stained glass and commercial artist, Mike was immersed in a world of creativity from an early age. His father’s art was frequently published and his stained glass window creations, which adorned numerous churches throughout the Midwest, instilled in Mike a profound appreciation for art and design.

After serving overseas in the United States Army, Berlin Brigade, Mike pursued his passion for design by attending Kansas State University. This academic journey laid the foundation for a successful career in architecture. As one of the founding principles of Helix Architecture + Design, he played a pivotal role in shaping high-profile architectural projects across various scales.

Upon retirement, Mike shifted his creative drive to focus on art. He now resides in the vibrant West Bottoms district of Kansas City, Missouri, where he has established his studio. Here, Mike channels his extensive experience in design and architecture into exploring contemporary and abstract art. Utilizing a diverse range of media, he brings a unique perspective to his creative practice, blending form and precision with imaginative expression.
